“Delighting people who value the quality of life by offering the best possible coffee nature can provide since 1933” is the purpose of illy. Thus gave birth Espressamente illy, a genuine experience of the Italian cafe lifestyle, which more recently arrived in the Philippines.

A few months ago, after much suspense, the Italian cafe finally opened its doors at the Powerplant Mall. Due to our busy wedding preparation schedule, we only got to visit the place just before the year ended; December 28 to be exact. It was for an after lunch coffee stop before heading back to work as we tried to while away the last few minutes of extended lunch break. Esperessamente illy has a nice modern Italian design with comfortable lounge seats right smack in the middle of the mall. It was quite a unique experience too.

I ordered a Cappuccino and a Tiramisu, while B ordered a Cafe Americano in an Italian coffee shop (seriously! but it was still a delightful cup according to her). Service wasn’t too good as it was actually hard to call on the waiters for anything there. The saving grace however was that the Tiramisu was heavenly, I shit you not! It was the best Tiramisu I have ever tried. My Cappuccino followed a few minutes after and it was a pleasant cup of really good coffee that was done exactly like I expected a cup of illy Cappuccino would be like.

B, said she wouldn’t be having any sweets, she strived so hard to resist the Tiramisu, but couldn’t stop scooping from the cubed glass container.

It was just an awesome coffee and Tiramisu experience that I just let go of the service problem. But they really should address this.
