The Secret Garden – Our engagement shoot

The Garden

A preview of the garden where we had our engagement shoot last Thursday. This is one of the best locations I’ve been to so far. It feels like your in another country or another planet perhaps. The lush greens, the fresh air, it was just amazing.

Strange plant

A strange plant of sorts. Looks like something alien actually. Wonder what this is…

While trying to engage in awkward conversations so as not to look choreographed in our pictures, we stumbled on the topic of having a photographer with us. Its really nice to have someone take our picture for a change. Normally when we take pictures of ourselves, we’ll be leaving the point and shoot somewhere and set it on timer just to get a shot of the two of us.

Being usually the one who takes the pictures, it feels strange to be on the other side of the lens. It was a very welcome experience nonetheless. And I guess when you really trust your photographer its not difficult to relax. I think I was too relaxed and kept enjoying the scenery rather than concentrate on the shoot. I wanted to capture so much of the place to take home with me, even if it was only in my mind. After all, our eyes are the best lenses; and the brain is the best storage of all. Experiences like these are what we live for.

But it was not the same case for B. She was quite nervous, and I felt it. I tried to reassure her a couple of times from the start. She slowly relaxed as the shoot went on and we both agreed that it was one of the best parts of our lives together as a couple. That moment – right there, in that place. I wanted to stop time so we’d stay there forever.

But as always, there is an end and we’d have to go home. I think to myself that one day I hope to build something like this for us and I’ll surprise B with it. I’ll probably be too excited and spoil my surprise or rather B would spoil the surprise as she always likes to do so.

Who cares if I look funny, if we look cheesy, this is about us. I will remember this day as one of the best parts of our wedding preparation and as a couple. This was a splendid day. I love you B!

It was a really fun shoot and the location was awesome. Many thanks goes to our master photographer Patrick Uy, makeup artist Toto Bagamasbad with his talented (Ruben and Ethel) and funny team.
