Rainy Italian Lunch

What was supposed to be a impromptu visit to the theme park turned out to be a rainy lunch at Italianni’s in Nuvali. We drove all the way to Enchanted Kingdom and literally got poured on. It was the most awesome scene ever, I swear! I was so amazed I couldn’t take a picture.

It was looking all gloomy as we were about to enter the parking lot, so we just told the parking booth guy that we decided not to go anymore. And right we were, because a few several meters into the parking lot, rain was pouring ahead of us as if we were driving through a carwash.

We then decided to go up to Tagaytay, but the rain didn’t seem like it would stop, so we decided to turn back and go into Soledad at Nuvali for lunch. With the choices of Italianni’s, Yellow Cab, Brother’s Burger, Pig Out Family Grill, Cristostomo’s and Conti’s, it was an obvious choice of Italianni’s for a romantic Italian lunch (as B put it) after having been poured on as the car we brought conveniently didn’t have an umbrella. Didn’t think of bringing one as it was sunny when we left.

Minestrone

Anyway, on to the food and away from the boring details of our trip. We decided to order a bowl of Minestrone and had it split since we wanted something hot. We both had a hearty cup of good ‘ol Italian vegetable soup to warm us up.

Shrimp Fra Diablo

Our main dish was the Shrimp Fra Diablo. “Fettuccine pasta sauteed with shrimps, garlic, pine nuts, spinach, asparagus and feta cheese in a pomodoro cream sauce.” The sauce was cooked to perfection however the noodles weren’t al dente yet, actually undercooked. The flavor and the fresh shrimps saved it though.

The staff was very friendly however, they smiled too much and didn’t do much as our water glasses were never refilled and we needed to call their attention to do so. Upkeep of the restaurant needed a bit of action as well as it was not so clean and the toilets had no running water.
